Philadelphia Fishtown Run to Penn Treaty Park and an Iron Works Day Pass
Updated October 3, 2026
Leave Iron Works Fitness in Fishtown, run east to the Delaware riverfront, follow it south to Penn Treaty Park and its famous elm story, then return to lift and shower.
Fishtown was once a shad fishing village and later a mill district, and today its warehouses hold breweries, coffee roasters and music venues. The Delaware riverfront here is wilder than the polished piers downtown. The river stretch ends at Penn Treaty Park, where William Penn is said to have made peace with the Lenape under a great elm. Iron Works Fitness, an independent strength gym, sells one visit at a flat rate while staff are on site. Iron Works has lockers, so your bag can stay behind while you run, but confirm with staff that your pass allows a second entry, because some gyms let you in only once.

The run: Fishtown to the Delaware riverfront and Penn Treaty Park

It mixes gritty industrial scenery with open river views and quiet streets, and it shows a side of Philadelphia few visitors see.
- Distance
- 5.7 km (3.5 mi)
- Start
- Iron Works Fitness Fishtown
From the gym, wind south through Fishtown's side streets and under the rail lines to Beach Street at Cumberland Street, where the route turns beside Graffiti Pier. The pier has been fenced off since part of it collapsed in 2024, so look from the street and do not go in. Follow Beach Street and the riverfront south to Penn Treaty Park. Dip into the park for a look at the obelisk and the Ben Franklin Bridge downriver, then loop back north through the heart of Fishtown to the gym.
Open the route mapExpect power racks, deadlift platforms, turf, machines, cardio and lockers with showers, and exit before staffed hours end.
- Price
- As of October 2026, a day pass is $24.99, used during staffed hours
- Showers
- Yes
- Hours
- Day pass hours: Mon to Fri 11 am to 7 pm, Sat and Sun 9 am to 5 pm
